Volterra

Called Velathri by the Etruscans, Volterra is a little middle age jewel within two hours from Castiglione della Pescaia. Situated in the province of Pisa; the setting dates back to the 12 th century and it gives to this city a particular historical atmosphere. While visiting the city one has the feeling that time has never passed; it seems to be between MiddleAge and Renaissance. The city is surrounded by the 13th century walls, erected in order to fortify the cityheart from enemies attacks. The citycenter is developed around Priori square with its omonimous Palace which hosts the most interesting Major Council Hall. Not to miss the roman ancient theatre, dating back to the I st century a.c; the Duomo and the various museums. Last but not least look around, the view is breathcatching.
