Three days are enough to discover some of Maremma’s most characteristic landscapes, combining the sea, history and nature. Starting from Rocchette, visitors can plan an itinerary without travelling long distances, dedicating each day to a different experience.

Rocchette Beach – Camping Village Rocchette
First day between Castiglione della Pescaia and Rocchette
The journey can begin in Castiglione della Pescaia, spending the morning exploring its medieval village. Walking through narrow streets and stairways, visitors can reach the upper part of the town, where they can admire panoramic views of the coastline and the Maremma plains.
After the visit, it is possible to head down towards the harbour and town centre for lunch before spending the afternoon on Rocchette Beach. This makes for a well-balanced first day, offering an immediate introduction to two of the area’s most characteristic attractions.
Second day between nature and Etruscan history
The second day can be dedicated to exploring the inland area. The Diaccia Botrona Nature Reserve offers the opportunity to discover a landscape characterised by wetlands, reed beds and numerous bird species, providing a completely different environment from the coastline.
From here, the itinerary can continue towards Vetulonia, a small village closely connected to the Etruscan history of Maremma. The archaeological museum and historical remains found in the surrounding area add a cultural dimension to the journey before returning to the coast.
Third day along the Maremma coast
For the final day, visitors can return to the sea and choose one of the destinations north of Rocchette. Punta Ala is a convenient option for enjoying walks around the marina, pine forests and coastline while keeping the day’s schedule relaxed.
Those who prefer a more nature-focused excursion can instead plan a visit to Cala Violina. In this case, it is important to check the beach access regulations in advance and consider the walking or cycling route required to reach it.
Where to stay to explore Maremma
For a short itinerary, choosing a single base is a practical solution that avoids the need to change accommodation every day. Camping Village Rocchette is located between Castiglione della Pescaia and Punta Ala, making it easy to reach both the coast and several inland destinations.
Guests can choose between traditional camping and accommodation options such as bungalow and Lodge Tent, organising their excursions independently.
Three days are not enough to discover everything Maremma has to offer, but they provide the opportunity to enjoy a varied introduction to the region: one day exploring a historic village and relaxing on the beach, another dedicated to nature and archaeology, and a final day along the coast. A simple itinerary that can also become the starting point for a longer holiday.
